The secret of an extremely refined custom-made garment, capable of enveloping your body like a second skin

Garibaldi

A GANDINO Shirt recounts to the wearer the magic of an industrious land and the avocation for weaving that dates back to the 1500. The inhabitants with their sartorial knowledge gave to this small corner of the world the nickname Valle dell’Oro (“Gold Valley”).

But a GANDINO Shirt testifies also the intersection between this land and History.
It was 1860. The fame of its artisans earned it the honour of tailoring one thousand red shirts. The same shirts which gave the name to just as many fearless men, liberators of Italy, led by a Hero, Giuseppe Garibaldi.

Heir of this tradition, the GANDINO shirt combines the best yarns in the worlds with the secrets of one of the most prestigious centennial factories of Italy. Today a GANDINO Shirt is the spearhead of that factory. A luxury garment manufactured with tailoring methods and with high quality details.

Gandino

Bergamo

As in the past, the sartorial district of the Bergamo region is a weave of small workshops, each one of them a jealous custodian of its excellence. A persistent bulwark opposed to the uniformity of the industrial culture. As the golden threads which stand out on the ancient lacework preserved in the vestries of the Valley, only the workshops which interpret at their best the excellence of the Bergamo region are called to give birth to GANDINO’s perfection.

The perfection which redefines the very concept of “Made in Italy”, often debased to a role of mere flag. Because Gandino is a synonym of an exclusively Italian manufacture: from the weaving to the confection to the accessories. Amongst the few who can be proud holders of the “All Made in Italy” title.

This is the secret of an extremely refined custom-made garment, capable of enveloping your body like a second skin.

INITIALS OF THE CUSTOMER

For the customer who seeks a custom-made shirt, the initials are embroidered exclusively by hand.

INSERTION OF THE SLEEVE

The sleeve is sartorially applied to the bust with the garment closed. With a slight slope on the front, so that it follows the natural posture of the human body.

Other Features

8/9 POINTS OF STITCHING PER CENTIMETRE

Only a hand-made shirt which aims to the best quality has 8/9 point of stitching per centimetre. A lower quantity would expose the fabric to the risk of curling after being washed, a higher quantity would make it too stiff.

PREWASH

Before the manufacture, every fabric is prewashed at 40 degrees to guarantee that it remains unchanged.

SLEEVE COUNTERGUARD

The part beneath the sleeve guard, called sleeve counterguard, is refinished with extreme accuracy.

THE FOLDS AT THE CUFF GAUNTLET

In addition to testifying the attention to details and the excellent workmanship, this detail enhances the value of the shirt.

The armhole

This seam, placed between the sleeve and the shoulder, is rigorously handmade, and it enhances the beauty of the whole shirt. The finishing of the armhole “cleans” the excess fabric which results after the sewing and gives, as a result, a very refined effect.

The collar

This is the most complex procedure: only true embroidery experts can carry it out perfectly, ensuring a refined elegance and, in the meantime, the maximum comfort and pleasure to whoever wears this shirt.

The yoke

The handmade execution of this detail gives an effect of softness and a perfect fit, by getting rid of all the stress caused by a machine sewed armhole.

The triangle

This represents the welding point of the front and the back of the shirt. This small piece of fabric is produced with the same fabric of the shirt, and it is solely hand-stitched in order to give maximum softness.

The sleeve placket

This is a finishing touch, carried out by the expert hands of the embroiders, placed at the top of the sleeve flap in order to keep the shape.

The eyelet

This refined detail is not only a whimsical habit of a stylish person, but it also contributes to give the necessary softness to the shirt and moreover to make it durable over time.

The button

Rigorously in mother-of-pearl, it is solely hand-stitched, according to our most ancient tradition.

The fly-front

The front of the shirt, on which the buttons are sewed, is entirely hand-stitched in order to allow a perfect shape and fit of the shirt.

The cuff

This procedure is solely hand-made and allows the shirt to distribute all the sleeve fabric along the whole circumference of the cuff, creating several small folds (crimping), so that the plumbs of the sleeve fit perfectly with the ones of the cuff: this gives a touch of rare and refined beauty to it.
